Patrick Farley Architect

Piney Mountain Home

Charlottesville, Virginia

This modestly-sized home was conceived in response to its heavily wooded mountaintop site, one replete with breathtaking views of surrounding valleys and distant mountain ridges, as well as the historic surrounds of Charlottesville. Deep connections to nature, enhancement of health & wellbeing and energy independence were central to the biophilic design agenda. Green roofs, interior plantings, solar PV, abundant natural light, natural/durable materials comprise its defining features. Of note, the architect also performed all general contracting services for this project.
