Woodland House

Richmond, Virginia

Preservation of several mature trees inspired the building layout, which also responds advantageously to available sun and breezes for passive conditioning, as well as framing views through the woods out to the street. Intensely biophilic, this home is connected -literally - through the sparse woodland via a footbridge passing through a forked poplar on supports that mimic several similar trees across the site.
